Actress Anita Hassanandani, who is doing a cameo role in TV show “Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon”, agreed to play a superstar in the show as she had never done similar role in the past.

Anita, who mostly plays demure characters, has acted in shows like “Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii” and “Kkavyanjali”. She was also seen in movies like “Krishna Cottage” and “Just Married”.

“A different role, but a cameo. It is a nice show, nice set up and it seemed really interesting. I had never done such a role before and that excited me. Just a cameo, but it’s nice to work with different people, go to different sets, that’s why I am in ‘Madhubala…’,” Anita said here on sets of the show.

She is playing a superstar who is approached by lead actor RK (played by Vivian D’sena) for his film after he has been boycotted by the film industry.

“RK is looking for a heroine for his film and he approaches me because I am this big star. When my career started, RK supported me and now he is expecting support from me,” Anita said.

“Basically that’s the cameo, I am playing a superstar who has been approached to play RK’s heroine,” she added.

The development in the show is likely to trigger a change in lead protagonist Madhubala’s (played by Drashti Dhami) life who is expected to start her career as a film heroine in the show.

Interestingly, her role is loosely
based on veteran actress Sudha
Chandran, also known for her
dancing prowess. Says a source,
"In the show, even after losing a
limb, Gulfam's character pursues
her passion for dance and will
choreograph Madhubala's songs
in her movie. She will be like an
elder sister to Madhu on the sets
of her movie."
Confirms Gulfam, "Yes, I am
playing Chitra, a Bengali
choreographer in the show."

Gulfam Khan to enter 'Madhubala...'

Actress Gulfam Khan will soon join the cast of TV show "Madhubala - Ek Ishq Ek Junoon". She will play the role of a choreographer.
The 41-year-old will be seen supporting the show's protagonist Madhubala like a mother figure. The actress has already started shooting for the part.
"I am playing the role of a choreographer. The character will support Madhubala (played by Drashti Dhami) on the show," said Gulfam.
Gulfam has earlier been part of shows like "R.K. Laxman Ki Duniya" and "Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein".
She is excited about being a part of "Madhubala...", which airs on Colors.
"The show is very popular. It's a good role and I am sure people would love to see me as a choreographer," she said.
The show also features actor Vivian DSena in a key role.

Mausi's "traditional" restrictions to make Madhu's life difficult in Colors' Madhubala

Madhu (Drashti Dhami) has been worried about her husband RK’s (Vivian Dsena) future as far as movies are concerned in Colors’ Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon (BAG Films/ Nautanki Telefilms). Reason? He has been banned by the film industry and nobody is willing to cast him in their movie projects.

Soon there will be new trouble knocking at her door in the form of her mother-in-law’s elder sister.

As reported earlier, veteran actress Navneet Nishan will essay the role RK’s Mausi, who will be old fashioned in her approach towards life.\

Furthermore, we hear that Mausi’s entry will take the story back in the 70s era.

How?

Well, Mausi will expect Madhu to do things in a certain archaic manner. This would include her (Madhu) not holding RK’s hands in the public, eating only after her husband finishes and many more such rules and restrictions. The regulations will make Madhu’s life difficult.

Does this mean Mausi is a negative character?

The interesting part is that she is not at all negative. In fact, she is one of the most positive and spiritual characters who will just want the best of the family.
